A jar designed exclusively for April Rain Skin Science’s Night Rainew skin cream was inspired by the shape of a raindrop. HCT Packaging (Santa Monica, CA) studied lenticular images of raindrops in order to accurately create a package that would match the design brief. “The floating raindrop shape was the cornerstone for all of our design iterations,” says Adrian Apodaca, HCT Packaging’s senior engineer. “We wanted, however, to find the right shape for the acrylic outer casing to complement the curvature of the inner packaging.” She continues, “The final shape of the outer casing gave minimized refractive distortion of the inner packaging, while allowing us the best opportunity to display the distinct figure of the jar.”Friday, July 31, 2009
