You may have an added reason for sipping coffee or pounding an energy drink. A new study shows that in "cells damaged by UV rays, caffeine interrupted a protein called ATR-Chk1, causing the damaged cells to self-destruct.” This is important because it is these damaged cells that can potentially become cancerous. Another unique finding from this study was that “caffeine has no effect on undamaged cells.”
