Babies That Rock
If you always thought you were musically talented you may be right. According to a new study newborns can follow a rhythm, “suggesting rocking out is innate.” This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to metal heads who've always believed they rocked out and “adds to growing evidence that the newborn brain is not the blank slate it was once thought to be.”Read full article

Celebrities and Body Image
It never ends! Generations pass, movies are made and new stars are born. However, one constant that remains is celebrities that are obsessed with their body image. This is somewhat understandable with all the TV shows and paparazzi keeping track of their every move, but when did it get out of control? In 2006, Actress Lindsay Lohan “acknowledged to Allure that her rickety state from the year before didn't "look healthy. I kind of didn't realize that. ... It was an attention thing, too. You start to wonder if your friends are your friends because you look a certain way."" Lohan has also been quoted confessing "I knew I had a problem and I couldn't admit it.” Even Kate Winslet said, "There's always going to be a part of me that worries about not looking as slim as other actresses."Read full article

Senator Oprah Winfrey
Is it crazy to think that the most powerful woman in the world might make a good politician? Well, infamous Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich thought so. “He told ABC that he considered appointing Oprah Winfrey to the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President Barack Obama.” Blagojevich told "Good Morning America" “that the idea of nominating the talk show host came to him as he explored potential candidates for the job that federal prosecutors allege he tried to sell to the highest bidder. Blagojevich said "she was obviously someone with a much broader bully pulpit than other senators." The governor said he worried that appointing Winfrey might come across as a gimmick and the talk show host was unlikely to accept.” The governor is “accused of abusing his power by scheming to benefit from the appointment to the Senate seat vacated by President Barack Obama, circumventing hiring laws and defying decisions by the General Assembly.”Friday, January 23, 2009

A Little Guy Time
Move over ladies skin care isn’t just for you anymore. A world once solely dominated by females is no longer looking so feminine. “Personal care products for men are flooding the shelves, and launches are becoming increasingly adventurous as the market matures, according to Mintel. The research firm tracked more than 500 new personal care products for men in the United States in 2008, compared to only 375 in 2007.” It used to just be soap and shaving cream. However, Beauty analyst Taya Tomasello said, “Beauty manufacturers are trying to stay one step ahead of men's evolving grooming habits. New personal care products launched for men today step beyond the basics of showering, shaving and deodorizing. At both the high and low ends of the market, new men's grooming products try to provide tangible benefits based on appearance, specific body needs and ethical concerns.”
